Some people have said that 255 is the widest you should go on a 17x8 wheel... Though that 275 looks quite nicely. Not sure how "safe" it is. IE, hitting some hard bump and the sidewall slipping over the rim or something, could be disasterious... Ask a professional, though.

I don't think that's possible with todays tires, maybe tires back in the day. I'm not a professional though.
