I recently played the lottery at 4 am on an empty hwy... about 162-165 according to the RPM speed calculator I used.. Had to slow due to road turn approaching.. Oddly firm and smooth at speed..
It took about 5-6 seconds for the needle to drop off of the 140 mark after letting off the gas.. I can't really say I plan on attempting again, but it was pretty boss.
Oh, sorry, I'm not exactly stock anymore..
with 4.10 gears it was about 5K at 140, and when I let off i was at 5600-5700 rpm.. With the power still left, I am thinking she should have been capable of 175-180, but I'm just not that crazy...

this is why our speedo needs to go higher...my rsx-s' speedo topped at 160mph, and i was able to bury it after i supercharged the crap out of it (on a sidestreet!). after a minivan almost pulled in front of me when i was going 160mph+, i stopped going that fast on public roads for several years since it scared the crap outta me.
however, for race tracks, and other places where we can safely go 160mph+, we need more speedometer on the mustang gt. hell, with a simple supercharger we should be able to hit close to 170mph.

At midnight driving to Roswell NM I had the speedo pegged for about 10 miles before I saw approaching traffic and slowed down. That was a great rush and the car felt like it had plenty left. It was wound up a little because of the 4:10's but I think it was really smooth and handled like a dream.
