Default Spark Plugs

I will be changing my spark plugs in my 06 Mustang GT. Anybody know where I can get a socket that will reach way down in the head? I don't know what size it is either.

Wait...let me get this straight...

Yer gonna replace your spark plugs...yet you don't have the right tools, nor have you done your research to find out the details of what you're doing...

Wrench? Try any automotive store, or Sears or Lowe's or someplace that sells wrenches. Used to know the size of the sparks...it's written on the hood I think. 3/8's or something. I don't know. I'd have to check the manual.

Yes, I'm putting in a heat range colder spark plugs from JDM and I don't happen to have the right socket. That's why I'm asking if anyone happens to know the size. You have a problem with that?

I think you'll need 8 mm to get the coil packs off.
9/16 deep well on a 8-12" extension 1/2 drive preferably/
piece of 1/2 black rubber fuel hose 10-12" long to fish the plugs out ofthe holes and start the new ones.
Copper anti-sieze compound for the threads.

You'll feel why when you remove the old ones.

Squeaking and jumping on the ratchet feels like the threads are galling. (Stainless plugs on Alum heads)
Scared the crap out of me.

With the anti-sieze you won't sweat about the "next time".

What's the recommended change interval of the plugs in the GT? I thought I read that the GT has some type of special plug? Although on one hand I understand the concept of putting anti-seize on plugs. I also do have some fear of the initial removal of the plugs. I'm pretty partial to "Iridium" plugs. Run them in my bike. They ae supposed to burn exceptionaly well and will last for tens of thousands of miles. Even in a high reving cycle. Interesting thought this changing of the plugs already in an '06. Why so soon?

I changed mine @ 60+K miles cuz I was throwing misfire codes on cyl 1 & 6.
Swapped coil packs around and got the same codes thus it was the plugs.

The Autolite-Motorcraft-Ford Parts plugs (same plug) is a Platinum design.

Iridiums are great but not made yet for these engines.

THe spark plug socket is a 5/8". Unless you have some VERY SERIOUS mods on your car, going to colder plugs will be a mistake.

Torque them to 13 ft/lbs.

I'm running a Saleen supercharger with a smaller pulley. I have to replace my spark plugs anyway, because I've damaged at least one spark plug by running lean. But that's a different story on another post of mine.
