I would say about 10. I've always heard every tenth is a car length.

i raced with my buddy's 06 stang GT (modded) and i am stock. he is a member of this web site also, he ran 13.5 and i ran 13.7 and for some reasion he was like 1 car ahead of me. but generally, you are right every tenth is around 1 car length, if not more!

Maybe because your reaction time was better?

Too many factors involved to figure it. For example if I sit at the line for 2 seconds with a poor reaction time, then where does that put me if I was driving the faster car?

It's just an estimate assuming you both leave the line at the same time.
Just like for every 100 pounds you shave off you gain a tenth. I've heard that too.

Yeah, I was just thinking about it yesterday morning after a Lancer Evolution took me by a car length. I guess its time to start working some OT.
