Default 2006 Sub 6000 Mile Check Engine light.

Hello All, I bought an '06 back in May. I am at about 5900miles. Yesterday the Check Engine light came on. At first I figured it was the gas cap or something. When I got home I checked the gascap to make sure it was tightened, etc. Long story short, the light is still on. I have schedualed a 6000 mile maintenence visit tommorow and informed them about the light for them to look at. Anyone have any idea of what this could be? Only performance mod I have done to this car is I had Borla cat backs installed. I have not noticed any change in performance, no noise, etc. Anyone else have anything similar?

Thanks,
-Tom

I would take it to autozone and have them scan your ECM and it will tell you the trouble code. Best of all its free

It takes a number of cold start cycles for the evaporative test to be performed. It may take a few days for it to reset. Been there.

Thanks for the info. Its going to the dealer tommorow for regular maintence. They can scan it there. I hope its something stupid like the Evap or something. Its a little Un-nerving to have that light come on so soon. I will post a follow up with what they found when I know.

Thanks All.

What's the "evaporative test"?

How is the car running? At Idle?
If nothing seems different then you might have to reset the computer by unplugging the battery.
Or you could get my worse case scenario- see my sig-
