RE: auto starter
i dont think its "bad" i had one on my old car. Maybe someone with more experience could answer better, but from what i know, and i could be wrong, i guess it "tricks" your compter telling it that the key is in the ignition and it is alright to start it. Thats about all i know. Like i guess it bypasses something.

RE: auto starter
I've had one on my 96 Maxima since it was a baby and it now has 170,000 miles without a tune so I don't think they are bad for anything. I know I wouldn't have a car/truch without one.

Your friend is a de-de-de, plain and simple. A remote start powers the same circuits as if you were turning the key. So in that line of thinking, starting your car is bad for the computer, lock it up and never drive it again.
And as far as the clutch switch, thay can be bypassed, but as a rule of thumb, shops and retailers say that they will not install remote starts on manuals due to ppl's habit for using the gearshift as a parking brake, and the liability resulting from such action. Starting a car in gear, never good.

+1 I have remote start on my 07 GT and it's great but its an auto most shops will not install on a standard. Lets say you come home tippse one night and leave your car in first when you park it. How great would it be to watch it leap right into the front of your house. quote]ORIGINAL: Archion
