Supercharger: Whipple or Saleen, and Non-intercooled or not

Saleen comes intercooled, whipple you have that option, thats up to you, staying around 400rwhp it will work. I have the vortech non-intercooled kit, it works fine for me(I'm cheap). In the middle of june(90 degrees) i made 402 rwhp,370 rwtq.

there is also more pros and cons with each supercharger...
I am in the same debate as you, I have already decided Saleen . Here the thing:
Whipple comes as a complete kit: Includes the Supercharging Unit, 39lbs injectors, GT500 Fuel pump and everything necesary for the kit to funtion properly at the specified PSI, although the intercooled unit comes as an option, the non intercooled kit will go around 5000 bucks and will be good to make around 400 - 430 hp. And you can order posished!
The intercooled unit (more $$$) will make more power, longer install time, and will be good for 450+ hp (careful with the rwhp numbers). You can always swap pulleys if you dont want to destroy the engine...
Saleen only comes with the supercharger with intercooler integrated. no injectors, no MAFs, no fuel pumps. you know, But the reason why i decided to go Saleen, I got thinking.
Saleen makes around 400 hp with a 3.5inch Pulley!!! no other upgrades as the whipple or other superchargers. The Saleen kit will funtion properly without upgrading injectors, fuel pumps, etc, that is, will funtion properly with the 3.5 pulley.
But once you want to upgrade the pulley for more power, lets say, a 5 psi, you will need to upgrade those components, and you will be looking at SICK power from very low PSI. THAT is why i choosed saleen . I will be fairly comfortable at 400hp. Keeping it safe.... AND i got a kick *** deal from texashotrods... NOBODY has been able to beat his price!

thx..but please dont hijack a thread that is talking about supercharging.....start your own turbo thread....
ORIGINAL: PERTANO
I'll be going with the Hellion Turbo kit. Outperforms both forms of supercharging and is on the fly adjustable. Can't beat that!!!

do you have to tap the oil pan on a saleen? saleen has the best deal, but all I need is just the basic kit that THR sells and it is installed?? correct...also can you not use an after market C+L MAF CAI on it as well??? does Saleen come with a tuner??

RE: Supercharger: Whipple or Saleen, and Non-intercooled or not
Nope it doesn't come with a tuner. You do have to send your car's computer out to them to down load a tune. From what I understand it can take up to two weeks. If you use other than the stock air intake or the upgraded intake you need to have it dyno tuned. From what I understand the saleen tune may be a little lacking anyway.
THR does have a good deal on the basic kit. They also offer a good deal on the kit with the saleen upgrade but not as good as stage 3 (right now anyway) IF your really interested JDM(I think I got that right) is offering a group buy which matches the last group by that was offered on this board. I was told, however, that '07 mustangs require and adaptor kit that will cost another $200.00.
If you want the basic kit I would call JDM and see if enough people have gotton on board to the group buy. I've been checking prices and calling places and am very tempted to get the basic kit. Like the above poster said, the saleen s/c is very expandable.
If your interested in what's involved in the install this is link to the PDF of the install manual from JDM's site. Good Info!

The guy I talked at THR did not mention anything about tapping oil pan... heck... you can check out the instalation manual at the saleen page. It is incredibly detailed with pictures of even the most stupid stuff.
As i recall, i have seen several people here at the forums running C&L CAI with saleen.... The only one that does not work to my knowledge is the Tunable Induction CAI due to the alternator relocation (as explained by DeMolet himself).
As for the tuner...no....you have to send them your comp for a POS tune... I am going to buy a separate SCT tuner from JDM and one of his tunes...A lot of search has teached me that JDM is teh man when it comes to saleens.
