How fast is it?

RE: How fast is it?
I have an array of the every day bolt on's. I data logged a 0-110mph run about two months ago. (Noting that my car has 18" rims with 285's in the rear and 255's up front.)
From a dead stop and no power braking, I punched it. My 0-60 was 5.17 seconds. Ill have to double check, but I think the 0-100 was 13.4
Hope this was helpful!

RE: How fast is it?
as far as i knew, it was 5.1.
here is a link...not sure how "right" it is.
2005 Ford Mustang GT V-6 6.9 15.3 (C&D Feb 05)
2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L V8 5.1 13.5 (MT Jan 05)

RE: How fast is it?
It is my understanding that ' 07 models are a little slower than '05 - '06, because of added weight from "beefing-up" the front, to accomodate the heavier 5.4 cast iron engine in the GT 500, and the weight of the SC and other components.
In other words, the frame and supports in the GT are the same as the GT 500, thus they are heavier, which will make them slower. Another factor is the popular 18" wheels, a little more weight, and additional forward radial/rotating mass to contend with.
Also, if the car doesn't have the optional 3:55 gearing, it'll be a little slower. I agree with KtownGT and others, that '05 -'07 GT's make the same HP. However, the '07s will be a little slower, due to the comments listed above.
IMHO an ' 07 could be .1 to .25 slower than an '05 -'06. Whether, it's 0-60, traps, or 1/4 mile times.
Just for an example, with everything being equal. '06 GT has a curb weight of 3373#, '07 GT has a curb weight of 3483# (110# don't sound like much) Actually, it's 3.26119% HEAVIER. Take a flat 5.0 sec for 0 - 60, now add 3.26619% to that time, you now have a 5.1633095 time, over a tenth and a half slower. This is just plain physics
Thanks.

RE: How fast is it?
Gone 2, that had to be a factory add on to insure proper handling, and maintain stability. I've not seen enough '95's to comment any further. I do know, we are constantly adding, or (more or less shifting weight) in our dirt cars to improve handling for different track conditions. Once we are at "minimum" weight, we shift it around for optimum performance, as needed.
I suspect FORD realized the '95's were not as stabile as they would have liked in LH turning, so they added that 25# for more downforce on the LF tire (since the shock isn't adjustable), if you will.
Very interesting photo.

RE: How fast is it?
I removed the spare/jack/all the trunk liner/hood liner/windshield washer resivoir(I never use the thing)/replaced the LCAs with billet ones/went catless with an O-R x pipe/deleted front sway bar with BMR kit/smaller battery(1/2 the size!)/Deleted rear seat & ALL THE harnesses, brackets & belts(rear seat was unusable anyways)& Im getting ready to put an aluminum drive shaft in that will cut ALOT of weight from the rotating assembly which means more RWHP!Ive probally cut a little more than 200lbs really but dont like to over exagerate on stuff! There is a few more things Ive done also to lighten up my car.Things I have'nt mentioned.

Where did you find the 200lbs? I know my '95 GT convertible had a 25lb cast iron weigh under the front fender. It was actually stamped "caution 25lbs"

your post makes no sense...
2005-2007 make the same power in the same power band
+1
He didn't mean his car dies as in the engine turns off, he meant that it kills(slows) the acceleration..

His Car ( 2007 ) ?
Or 2005+ ?

Turning off the TCS is good because with it on, it pulls timing when you get up to higher RPMs and it will help with your accelerating.
The 4.9 is doable on a stock car with stock rubber, it is hard, but doable. Your car is also underrated at 300 HP and they normally make around 315 to the crank.

Just saw a Ford ad on TV for GT's. They said 300 HP, so they were talking about GT's. They also said 4.9 sec 0-60. I thought I read somewhere that it was 5.2 sec for manual and 5.4 for the automatic. So what are the "correct" times 0-60 time for a stock with standard and with automatic? Mine is stock automatic.
A related question - the salesman I bought the car from said that if someone challenges me at a stoplight, I should turn traction control off. Isn't it the job of the traction control to keep the tires from losing traction? Would I get the fastest start with traction control on or off?
Apologies to you racing guys for having to read a noobie question.

There are various results the best 0-60 for a manual is 4.9 stock, the best for an automatic is 5.0 stock. Keep TCS off while launching a car off the line etc. but for daily driving just leave it on unless you're going to be having some fun.
