Default Insurance

Hi all. I got an insurance quote for my soon to be Mustang GT and I was quoted $1100 per year just for the Mustang! WTH? Is that right? I have no tickets, no accidents, not even a parking ticket. That quote was with a multicar discount as well. I always thought 4x4's and sport carscarried the same "risk"when it came to insurance rates. For each of my 4x4's, I'm not paying more than $500 on each. That sucks. Anyone else paying that or is that just the cost of being a Mustang owner?

Try asking around a bit. The first insurance company I contacted, who offers me GREAT rates on my motorcycles, wanted over $2000 a year to cover the Mustang. OUCH! Likewise, I am over 25, NO tickets of any kind, and I have excellent credit. In fact that company would insure me for a Corvette for less than the Mustang. WTF? Anyway, I contacted Geico and I'm paying less than $600 a year for full coverage, low deductibles.

$635 a year full coverage on my 07 GT with Ameriprise (and American Express company) through Costco. That was a whopping $15 more than the 03 V6 Mustang Coupe I traded in. By the way.... I'm 45 years old, no tickets and have good credit (which makes a difference nowadays). My insurance was almost cut in half when my wife and I switched from Safeco to Ameriprise 2 years ago. None of the other big insurance companies could touch that rate. The closest was over $300 a year higher. It pays to shop around!
