Default hurst problems?

I did a search and came acorss some problems people were having with the Hurst short throw. I have had mine in for one week and i have noticed it seems kind of (for lack of better words) loose? After installing it last weekend and having my father double check all the connections, it was in tight and I had no problems up until mid this week. An example would be... coming to a stop in neutral and feeling a knocking/something hitting something else? I don't know too much about this stuff but has anyone else had a similar problem? Can this thing become "un-tight"??

thanks in advance

I dunno about coming up to a light, or coasting in neutral, but I do feel a slight knocking or tapping thru the shifter when I am coasting (off throttle) and the car is in gear. I think that is normal. Can anyone confirm?

I feel that stuff in the stock shifter, so it's probable that it may become exagerated with the hurst. BTW, my hurst should be in the mail, so I should have it in next weekend.

Ive never had the knocking problems.....I learned through trial and error that Locktite is an in-valuable tool when installing these things. I read up alot on the install on these things and almost every one suggested that you be generous with the locktite because they can work themselves loose. Hope this helps.

I get the feeling that the Hurst is not as isolated as the OEM shifter. There seems to be more gear train noise and vibration transmitted through the shifter due to less damping. On mine I notice that there is some play in any gear selected, that is, you can wiggle the shifter forward and backward slightly without affecting the degree of engagement. None of this bothers me any, since I smile every time I shift it.

I've had mine in for about 2 weeks with no problems. I had a local shop do the install and asked them to be generous with the Loctite so no rattles. There is a little side-to-side play but nothing unusual. I thought for the first couple days that I might be hearing a little more noise but I wasn't sure if that was my imagination or not, and either way I've gotten used to it. Love the look and it is much better than stock.

I've had mine in for several months now. It actually started shifitng better with a few miles on it, but almost immediately I noticed a little more movement than with the stocker. I've triple checked the mounting, and even had the car in to look for bad motor mounts, loose nuts on the DS, etc. My research tells me that feeling a little driveline torqueing through the shifter is normal on these cars. The hurst does seem to transmit it more than the stock one.

This issue is related to all those guys who drag stock and wind up having problems hitting third gear, the torqueing of the engine and transmission moves things around a lot, cause our shifters are kinda riding the transmission like a bucking-bronco - only one litle blot holding them to the wall of the transmission well. I plan on addressing the issue by:

1) Replacing my motor mounts
2) Installing a K-member and torque limiters like the CHE here: http://www.pmpparts.com/index.php?ma...products_id=70
