with your manal trans. stangs, do you try to keep it in the highest gear possible at all times (i mean without killing rpms)

eff no.

in anything other than a main around town road, 3rd gear usually.

4th gear around town.


5th gear on the highway, or on a longer stretch around town

i won't shift right into 5th; ill cruise in 4th for a little then let overdrive take over

 

Yeah around town imusally in 1st gear and when i hit the highway ill drop it into second if im feelin lucky.

Upshift at about 3k.

 

when i do drive to get best mpg(not often) i shift 1st at 15mph, 2nd at 20mph, 3rd at 25, 4th at 30 and 5th at 42ish...

 

For regular driving I shift just below 3k RPM. I drive 60 miles a day for my work commute, mostly highway miles. I get 20.9 MPG.

 

I shift at 3k RPM with 13.9 MPG

 

You're in first gear around town? My throttle response is so sensitive in 1st i'd get wiplash trying to drive in it all the time. I'm normally in 3rd gear around town. I won't use 5th unless i'm driving atleast 30 miles at 75mph.
