Default Engine Knock

Hey Guys here's what i have. It sounds like a lifter knock but seems to come and go every now and then. There is no real pattern to it, just every now and then there is a really loud knock (I'm talking about a knock you can here going down the interstate at 75 mph with the windows down and the radio on) and after 5-15 minutes it just fades away to a very quite tick but never goes away completely. Anybody else have any prob like this. Thanks for any info.
P.S. Also taking it to the repair shop on saturday.

I remember reading a post here a month or two ago of the same thing your describing and found that these 3V engines are known to be on the noisy side and not have anything wrong with them. I started out with a 05 V6 and nothing but when I picked up the GT (almost a year ago) the first time I heard the engine it was def. louder than I thought it should've been (ticking and such) but have found that it was quite normal for these engines and the car runs great with no problem either...just search it and you should be able to find something related to it.

Sounds like a lifter that is not pumping up properly, but I guess you already deduced that. I had this in my truck when itwas new. I had used a heavier weight oil than recommended by the factory. After I switched back to the recommended oil, the problem went away. However, I always suspected thatthe lifter may have just healed itself through wear after the engine had been sufficiently broken in. Later, I tried the heavier oil again with no more problems. Best thing is have the dealer listen to it and replace the faulty lifter, if needed.
