Need help spending $$
I can afford to put about $1500 into my stang this month. Just wondering what you guys think of my plan so far.
GMS CAI
SLP Loudmouths
Light Bar
Head/Tail light covers.
Black out panel for the trunk.
I have 06 premium edition GT, tungsten gray convert. Auto tranny, (I know, but i cant hold my bowl while shifting..hehe)I cant get a lowering kit and ground effects because there are too many hills in Pittsburgh.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It really matters what you want from the car. If you want the best performace boostI recommend a CAI and Xcal2, I have the C&L intake with the Xcal2 and loading the tune on the car like every single person will respond, is like night and day with throttle response, and performance, you can also set parameters on your programmer for your auto that will increase shift firmness and what not. I think it is a waste of money to buy a good CAI without tuning the engine for that specific CAI. IMO. save up and tune it for your CAI.
it'll run you about $575 with no labor costs. That leaves you with 900 for appearance, then youcould also get a set of underdrive pulleys for approx $180... Good Luck!

Will a tune void my warranty? If so, I'll wait to do that in 26k miles. Will I still notice a differance w/ a GMSCAI w/o a tune?
As for the pulleys, will that void my warranty also? What are your opinions on the light bar. Its about $460, seems like alot of cash. I was thinkig 410 gears also, butI heard w/ them, gas mileage will be horrible?
Thanks

there is a recent thread about mods and warranty issues. You should be able to search and find it easily. You will notice the difference with the GMS CAI but you will want more later so spend more now instead of doubling the cost later. You will need the tuner for many mods down the road (bigger tires, gears).

Everything performance-related will void your warranty EXCEPT the FRPP (which consists of an intake, 93 octane racing tune and a set of GTA muflers with 4 inch double-walled tips, and is the same performance package that comes on the Shelby GT-H).
If your car still has under 12,000 on the clock you will be eligible for a one year / 12,000 warranty on the FRPP- but IF, and ONLY if, it's installed by an authorized Ford Motorsport dealer.
The total price for me (in NJ with 7 % sales tax) was $1362, and it's the best $1386 I ever spent...!
Other aftermarket combinations (like Brenspeed, Evolution, Diablo, Predator, etc.) will be cheaper and give you slightly more power (about 10 - 15 h.p.), than the Ford racing package, but it was WAY more important for me to keep my warranty intact than to gain a few extra h.p. (and the sound of the GTA's is MUCH better than stock!).
Good luck whatever you choose to do!

10-15 HP is not a FEW HP, that is a BIG amount. Normal CAI and tune from custom tune is 25-28, so your gains with FRPP is around half that. You can pay 1000+ to gain that 10-15 or you can spend as little as 100. Either way 10-15 HP is nothing to sneeze at gaining or losing.

No, the gain from the frpp is rated at 20 h.p. (25 with the added x-pipe). that's why the Shelby GT-H and Shelby 350 are rated at 325 h.p.
So even if you figure 30 h.p. instead of 25 - 28 from those other aftermarket tunes & CAI's, then that's only 10 h.p. more than what the frpp tune and CAI will give you.
Granted, even 10 h.p. is nothing to sneeze at, but then neither is a fully intact warranty.........!
What do so many of you guys have against the slightly less aggressive Ford package?
Haven't you read any of Shanershatch's postings about the chances you're taking with these more aggressive tunes...?
pft basic mods don't void warrantys, even if they do... personally i don't give a **** ! I prefer enjoying my car as i want to all the time i ride it.
By the time the warranty ends, 3 - 4 years aprox, ill be switching car
