They have a preconceived notion of all American cars being plasticky, slow, heavy with soft suspension. I can appreciate that my Mustang has a ****ty plastic interior. There are shakes and rattles for days. I know that. But as much as I would love an M-car I despise things like iDrive, sequential shifters (w/ no clutch) and **** that like that. All that crap that is supposed to be convenient or whatever takes away from my fun of actually driving the car. This applies to Japanese cars too. I loved the Lexus IS300, until they got rid of the manual option. I think American cars are more for 'pure' gearheads more so than many equivalent Euro-cars but I will never try and say that American cars are of a superior quality. Its all personal opinion and what you value more. (All that being said, the best 'bang for the buck' car I've owned in terms of quality was easily my Mazda3s, owned by Ford with a Mazda engine, Volvo chassis and Ford body panels. That car had 3-series interior quality for $20k)

Doesn't the FR500 have a live rear axle? Wasn't it winning races?

Im not sure abou the fr500 having a live; i would think so.

and i agree w/ you buddha expect for the plastic. I would of paid 500 more to get ride of all that plastic bs in my car; i see toys w/ better plastic. but thats my only thing against it. small things like that go long way.

well that's because they ARE much more expensive...
Good point, well made. And that's true even more so here in the UK. If I did the paperwork myself, it'd cost me the equivalent of $40,000 to buy a Mustang GT in the US and ship it to the UK. The extra $10,000 or so goes in custom charges and VAT (Value Added Tax...what a f$%kin' joke).

Anyway, my point is this...$40,000 in the UK will get you a Ford Mondeo (Contour), a Honda Accord, A SAAB 9-3, or a BMW 1-Series.

Or you could drive a Mustang.

'Nuff said!

P.S. - Gas here is $6.50 a gallon. That's a US gallon, too. And all y'all think all y'all have it tough. [:'(]

There is........They "say" its a Mustang GT, and they spit out alot of the GT's stats and stuff......BUT they are actually driving a V6 and talking STONE COLD **expletive** about the mustang GT. They actually have the audacity to race a real horse against the Mustang with the horse winning! I would post the video but its been posted here all too much.....Im sure you could find it on youtube if you searched.....

my favorite part was how this is the only car they acctually put on a dyno. they believe every other cars numbers though. and by the way, it was going to be called the gt500 before they even came out with the engine stats. it has nothing to do with the hp rating.
