Default Learning?

Hey guys, I hear people saying how the stang's computer adjusts to your driving characteristics

I have reset mine and thus far I have felt a difference in the sensitivity of the gas pedal, (or at least I think!)

does it really learn your driving? If so, what does it do

Thanks, Ryan

Yes the computer learns yor driving style and as we discussed in the previous post the lag can be gotten rid of with a tune....the computer would still learn your style with the new tune but my throttle lag never came back so I dont think the learning is near as affective as without the tune. You can reload your tuen anytime you want also and I think that this erases the memory. Havent done mine in awhile but I will tomorrow with hpipe install and the CMCV hopefully going on. We see what time I roll out of bed and then see how much work actually gets done.

I asked Brenspeed this question when it came up on the forums a few months ago. According to Dave it does not happen at all with custom tunes. He left open whether or not it happens on the stock tune and whether or not the 'reset' has any effect.

Couldn't find any other information on this topic to either confirm or move to the urban legend category. I generally don't trust people's butt dynos. Hard numbers or facts from a reputable source.

At this point, I guess, if it feels good do it.

The Spanish Oak processor as it is known as controls the drive-by-wire by motoring you driving basically. Read here:

ooh nice howarmat. good find.

as for tonkpils, I would think that the tune re-calibrates the servo and thus, no lag, or just tunes the hell out of the mixture to proform optimum

The tunes modify many things that probably take the lag out, these are things that can't be learn by the computer I am guessing. The changes in timing are a big part of it i think. The timing is something that i cant see the computer modifying.

Every time I reload the custom tune my car feels more "snappy"; I just touch the throttle and she jumps, plus the engine revs higher on start-up too. After a week or so she starts to feel a little "mushy". (Please pardon my use of overly technical terms ).

The "hold the gas pedal down while the car is off" thing seems to reset the throttle response too.

I've owned/driven a number of performance cars in my 25+ years of driving so I don't think it's my imagination. IMHO I'm pretty sure the Spanish Oak processor is changing some settings over a period of time.
