I guess next you're friend will want to race from 100mph-130..........oops, his econocar probably is computer limited to like 110.
These 4-6 cyl import guys like to go from higher rolls because they know it takes some of your V8 torque outta the equation. I say......if you're car can't make enough torque toperform decentlyfrom 0-75mph...............your car is just too SLOW.

The only thing top end about the Civic is that it requires you to rev it to7800 rpm before in makes a whole whopping 197 bhp.
This is bench racing, but it will give you guideline. According to Road and Track tests, the Civic Si takes a huge 8.2 seconds to go from 70mph to 100 mph. It takes 16.8 seconds to go 0-100 mph.
You will kill him even from 70 mph.

05/06 mustang gt 70-100mph STOCK = 5.8 seconds
07 mustang gt 70-100mph STOCK = 6.1 seconds
so, you'll win by over 2 seconds...and at 100mph,
100miles/hour X 1hour/60min X 1min/60sec X 5280ft/mi = 146.7 ft/sec, X 2 seconds = 292ft.
you'll be ahead by 292 feet when you hit 100mph...and if a car length is 8ft...you'll win by 36.5 carlengths :-D

A full second off that time is way out of any kind of reasonable standard deviation based on test conditions and/or driver skill.
