Is there anything electronic or special in the ignition key? I want to take the plastic off and drill a hole for the key ring instead of having some big glob of plastic in pocket all the time. The remote is bad enough. I did this with my truck key.

 

Yes, I believe they have a chip in them like most new cars.

 

There is a chip in them and I wouldn't try to modify them at all.
