Default 2007 Mustang Price Help!!

I was looking at getting a GT Deluxe with no added options. Just cloth seats, standard radio and a 5spd. With $1000 rebate and my $500 military discount I am looking at around $24,800 after taxes, 23,300 before tax( this does not include the $200 they seem they are going to charge me for a dealer swap). This is right around the dealer invoice before taxes, something like $24,819. Do you think this is a good deal? Should I push harder for a lower price? Also I have to do a dealer swap because they have no bare bones GTs, there seems to be none in Indianaand the nearest one seems to be in Kentucky. Thoughts on this?

Also I am paying cash

How far are you away from Nashville?

This place is right across the street from me. I didn't buy mine there but they probably have the largest, or close to largest, inventory in the South.

If you're interested, PM me and I'll put you in touch with one of the salesmen there that is a good friend of mine

Keep this in mind: buy with selling in mind.

I bought an '05 Nissan 350Z with cloth interior.

When I went to sell - the first question asked was, "does it have leather?"

I prefer cloth - but most do not.

So - my '07 GT has leather.

Just a thought.

iwannagofast, is that how much you payed with tax or before tax? My price is 24,800 after tax so that makes it about 23,300 before tax.

Im buying the same car, absolutly no options.I got it for $2400 tax and tags...mind you thats after trade in. They gave me 1600 for my Gran Prix...sooo thats what 25600. I also refused the $1000 dollar rebate in exchange for the low APR Ford was offering. So you might be able to go lower..but not by much, sounds like a decent deal.

I had created a long, detailed post, but this site timed me out. [:@]

Anyway, I say buildthecar to your specs at Ford Direct (if you haven't already):

http://www86.forddirect.fordvehicles.com

This will give you the real inventory cost. Then click the 'Seach Inventory' button on the vehicle summary page after you have built it to spec (or to the specs of the car they are swapping for). Hopefully you can find the car they are swapping for in the inventory search results. Then you know exactly where it is and how much it is (and maybe find something else more to your liking or closer). Get your sales tax %for your state and add that to the cost (plus your registration, etc.). Then subtract your rebates (not sure if you can subtract the rebates first and then apply taxes to the lower total in your state - usually this is not the case).Watch out for the dealer's documentation fees (not sure if they have placed a limit on the doc fees by law in your state).

If you find the car in the inventory search, you could get creative and have someone lookup the build/ship dates for the car's VIN (ask on Blue Oval website forums or maybe even on this site). Then you will know how long the car has been sitting at that dealer. The longer its been sitting, the better deal you should be able to work out (the dealer that has it will be more willing to unload it). I think you should be able to get it at least at invoice, if not fairly lower (before you apply your rebates). I've seen others on this site ordering their Mustangs at invoice recently with little haggling (depending on the dealer of course). I'm not sure if the swap fee of $200 is legit or not - I've never had to deal with getting a car on dealer swap.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
