Hooker help
So the battle of the Hookers continues....
Need some good help here, I got the Passenger side installed no problem, except dropping a mid-pipe on my head [:@](don't ask it's a long story) andstarted tinkering with the drivers side tonight. As I tinkeredI got the stock header set to come off I re-read my instructions and loosened the rack and pinion as directed but that bugger will not move enough to come out. Am I missing something here? Is there some secret trick to getting it out? Also, question #2, the dipstick. The instructions do not mention anything about the dipstick needing to be moved, it appears to be in the way...
Anyone have any help?

RE: Hooker help
My only suggestions would be to search for people who have written about installations, good luck on finding that though... Other suggestion would be to search for another brands instructions. Kooks, ARH, Dynatech, JBA, SLP, etc.

RE: Hooker help
I just put a set of longtubes on my car last week. The driver side is the easiest side. You do have to remove the dipstick. If you remove the motor mount bracket you have plenty of room to work on the driver side. Passenger side was tuff A/C compressor was tuff to work around.

RE: Hooker help
You can do a search for my name and find quite a bit of info on the Hookers.
But as far as the steering rack goes.....
You need to take the bolt totally out and slide the rod up. If you look thru the bolt hole as you slide it up notice the square insert has been notched to allow the bolt to slide thru. Also (you can't see this part) the insert is also radiused on thelower tip the same side as that notch. As you get to the point where it will almost pop out, you have to push the shaft at the connection point where the two are almost apart. Pushing on the opposite side of the notch will allow the radiused tip to walk out of the square hole. Assy is the same. Put the non-radiued side in the square hole and push on the notch side now, to pop the shaft back in.
Be sure to put Blue 242 loctite on that bolt (last one you ever want to vibrate loose).
