I love my stang and all, but... for $42k, you can have a half decent Vette. For $50k you could have a loaded Vette. And just for giggles, Kerbeck is offering a base model for $39,990.

you stole what i was going to say there steam fish, lol. imo a stang for 38k(before mark ups) should have a DOHC 4.6 making almost 400hp, upgrade brakes, susp, etc (and an "anti plastic" kit for the int would be nice

and the chev dlr here in jersey on rt73 also running the same deal; base vette $38,9....400hp

I looked at the Shelby GT and almost bought one for MSRP at ~$40,030 (had shaker 1000) but it did seem just too much to pay to have a "Shelby". I have no regets and I love my vert. and paid $7K less.

The ability to charge whatever you want for what you are selling is what makes this the greatest country for business. Take away that ability and the next time you sell your property let's see how happy you are! I'd rather have dealerships that markup Shelby GTs to over $50,000 than live in a country were prices are set. I don't like standing in line for bread, gasoline or a new car.

Anyway, just look at the list of parts Shelby installs on a premium GT (some with NAV and auto) and add your installation costs. If you do all the work your self add in the amount you make per hour at your job. Is that really such a bad deal for an instant classic?

dont overlook a great factor, shelby gt means factory warranty on the cai etc. so you dont have to screw the oem back in if you need the shop lol

Don't get me wrong, I think the shelby gt is a beautiful car and probably worth msrp considering everything you get, it just bugs the hell out of me that dealers try to get rich off special cars. Like someone else said, I wish ford would build enough of these so everyone that wants one can get it for list.

I was just reading a post on the Shelby site and i guess Shelby can't keep up with the production so instead of 10,000 cars total, there is only going to be 6000 total SGT's. That could be why there seems to be a rise in the ADM again. For a while there it seemed to be going flat and you could pick one up for sticker if you shopped around but now with the lower production run they could be creaping back up?

Im not saying its a nice car; cuz it is. I saw one in person. but your pretty much paying for the name. A stock based vette the same price w/ a 400hp 6spd, targo top sport car. thats my only problem. But i know the shelby will be worth money down the road.

I actually like the car. I dont understand the black or white only deal. But ok, I can see their point for stock reasons. And for 8K more, you get a nice car that is a shelby.

But as far as flipping over it and trading up? Why? My car is likely faster, handles just as well or better, etc etc. Forgetting about markup, if I was contemplating spending 39K on a shelby gt, I would just spend the extra 4K for the shelby gt500
