I'll leave it here I don't want to cause a calamity. Been there done that.
Well, let's see.......I guess you need to ask yourself, what do you want? Turbo guys swear by their choice as do S/C guys. Having helped friends build turbo Capris back in the 80's, the thing with turbos is that they create a LOT of under-hood heat(that's why most modern applications position the turbo(s) near the incoming airstream behind the radiator). Melted under-hood wiring, boiling brake fluid and hose/belt failures were things we encountered "back in the day", hence the arrival of water-injection & inter-coolers. I'm sure the modern stuff is much more developed and tested to ensure proper reliability. Turbos use no engine hp to be driven, S/C do(the need for a crank belt). Although S/C's add more weight to the nose of the car, they provide more 50 state compliance(not sure if any current turbo systems are 50 state legal) since the mfr. of these products took the time to have them certified(it's an expensive process). You want ultimate hp? I would lean towards the turbo set-up. You want 50 state compliance and many more choices(and low down grunt with the roots/twin-screw designs), then a S/C would be your choice. Although the stock 3V short-block can only take so much, so this may all be moot when keeping psi in the 4-11lb range. I will be going S/C(because I live in Cali-tough smog standards) and the cost is less(under $5K for the Paxton inter-cooled system and under $3.5K for an older modelnon-inter-cooled one). I'm sure a turbo fanatic will tell you their side of the equation. Cheers
'Nuff said.... Congrats on your 8. I gave some thought to it at first and my brother made a joke about - oops... you could have had a V8.... so I bought the 8 and I LOVE the rumble.......
Well my decision to go for a GT when I get back (from Korea) is based on payments. With my factors my payment with a v6 would be like 300 per month, while if i just through down and additional 1k on a GT (keeping in mind i WILL walk away with invoice) my payment would go up only $50!
I can't find a reason not to go for the GT, 50 bucks for more performance, better styling, and true repect.
