Even though they win over S197´s, don't forget about the hp/weight ratio, gears, rim size, etc. GTs do give a good battle, or should i say the SRT-8's do ? since they are not 100% sport cars.

paper can hold whatever you writte on it. guy dont get me wrong, i love stang, that why im here, my point its, stop saying that those cars suck, because they dont, its a 4 door sedan that can give a good battle to a mid moddified s197 gt, 04 gt and down, no match at all unless f/u or something serious. because it will take gears, tune, exhaust, cai and some good drag radials, and a very good driver to match the low 13s, high 12s that those cars are doing stock on stock tires, get some tracktion to those bastards and i bet they will do better, the extra prise? well, you are getting a car that seats 5 people comfortable, a truck where you can fit 5 more dead persons, 20" wheels, nav system, racing seats that hold you when cornering, a bass as* bracking and suspention system and the list goes on, not to mention the stronger engine, because we all know that s197 have piston rod the size of toothbrush, and an hp rating of 450 to the wheels and thats traying luck, it will not be long before you have to pick up the pistons of the road if you make it out of the dyno with that mucht power, those srt8 are pushing at least 370 to the wheels stock, so it will be no problem to spray a 100 nos and be over an blown s197 with little over $700

I agree the SRT8 is a great car! The question asked is the SRT8 faster in the 1/4 than a S197 Mustang. Equal drivers. Yes!

By the way they put down more like 340 rwhp range! Still a great car and still 80 rwhp more than a S197.

What do you base this on? I imagine there aren't many srt8's out there that are spraying anyway.

Lot's of s197's here with FI that have 470hp at the wheels and they aren't exploding. Not something I want to do, but can be done. Go over to an srt8 forum and see how many have FI.

you are rigth moosestang, not many spraying but zex has a kit just for srt8, and procharger already got a kit for the 5.7l hemi and they said that the 6.1L kit its coming soon. and we all know that anything over 450 to the wheels on stock internals is just matter of time and luck!

From what I've read those cars take terrible to mods. The computer system is basiclly locked so its hard to tune them. They can slap mods on but they'll end up running pig rich... anyone know more on this?

nothing $1400 will not fix, money not being a matter since who owns those cars can affort those mods, there is a place where they flash the comp with an aftermarket tune, add up 30-40 rwhp, but wil get deep in you pocket at $699, but just that wil get u to or very close to 400rwhp, exhaust, intake, another 20-30 rwhp @ about $1500 FOR BOH MODS, now you are inthe 420-430 rwhp and just spended little over 2k, torque converter $699 and u will be mid to low 12 with good tires, how much money it takes 4 our cars to get to that power, besides, give some time, those cars been out for 3 years only, our something like 40?
