Default how much dif. between 87&93 octane tune?

I'm currently running 93 octane tune with SCT from Brenspeed. Runs awsome. Gas prices are awful when putting 93 Vs. 87. How much hp loss will i get by going to 87 octane? is there a loss or no.

How awful can $0.20more per gallon be? 0.20 * 14 gallons= $2.80

I agree.....if you can afford the mustang you can afford the 100-120 more a year for the gas!

I switched down to 87 octane and haven't noticed a huge seat of the pants difference. I really haven't been able to tell the difference whatsoever to be honest with you. Maybe I'll retune to 91 on my next tank just to verify. In fact, the only reason I've ran the last4 or 5 tanks on 87is because I didn't notice a substantial dropoff from switching. Why not save the change and buy your lady friend something nice...like a slim fast bar.

And guys, don't flame over the $2.80 per tank. Lots of people have posted about even smallergas mileage increases and decreases for various mods.

Thanks for your opinion George. Thats all i was looking for. people with dif. opinions, not smart a** remarks. Hopefully someone else will write their opinion.
It is obvious that 93 tune is better than 87 tune. How much better was my question. George didnt notice the dif....anybody else?

Just to answer your question, I felt the difference was noticible on both my '97 and '05 Mustangs. I used canned tunes on both at first (SCT XCal2) with the lower octane, then had the cars professonally tuned. Both have 93 octane tunes and done on a dyno by Woodbine Motorsports (Maryland). The difference in price is about $3 per fillup (about 20 cents), or $21-24 per month for me. Unless you're really stretching a household budget and gotta watch every penny (I've been there when I was young, so no argument from me), the 87 octane isn't really saving all that much money. A movie ticket, popcorn and drink, maybe. Then again, maybe you commute 150 miles a day. It might add up.
