Default trading stick for auto

I am getting sick of shifting in this ludicrous traffic of accidents every day. I will soon be trading my GT for an auto. Does anyone have any thoughts? will I miss the stick a whole lot?

I'm like you. Drove stick for years, decades, but now, don't race and looking for convenience. I will never buy a stick again.

You'll miss the stick, but you'll get used to the auto. I traded in my '05 GT manual for an '06 GT auto vert, and I really miss the manual sometimes. I don't miss it when I'm driving in Chicago traffic though. I sure did miss it when I had my dyno done compared to my manual. I lost about 20 RWHP.

If you don't go with another S197, you'll definitely miss that. I wouldn't want another car right now. I've had two, and have no plans to get rid of my current one, unless I can step up to a GT500 (or the Mach 1 or Bullitt when they come out.)

I like the auto when Im in traffic....other times I wish I had a stick, but around here (Metro DC) there is enough traffic all of the time that I am happy with my choice....

Did you go and test drive an auto to see how it felt and convenience vs. a stick? I dislike autos greatly. I feel you can't have a true performance machine with an auto tranny but that is just MO

Honestly no clearcut answer. Go take your car out when no traffic is around and enjoy that while you can, auto is boring in my opinion. I live in Phoenix though, yah we have traffic, but were also one of the largest cities in the U.S. in terms of population and ranked higher on actually area our city covers. I plan my driving around traffic, as hell, who wants to drive in traffic, and I can avoid it thank god, even with working a 9-5. Only time I want auto is the 1-3 times a month when I am in rushhour. Otherwise, I quite enjoy driving at night, and being a hellion!

If you have to drive in a lot of stop and go traffic, the automatic will be so nice you will not miss the "fun" of shifting. Another solution might be to buy a cheap commuter car with an auto and keep your GT manual for fun.
