The dealer has always been good to me about the work and don't mind the few mods I have . When aking about the gear replacement I was told as long as I bought Ford gears that everything would be covered and went as far to tell me don't buy gears here you will pay to much....Service with a smile
Damn I really need to find a dealer like that.

I paid 700 in Denver for 3.73's and a FRPP tracloc differential installed. If I brought in the parts myself it probably would have been around 300. And the guy who built it said there would be no whine and I dont have any at all. So I'm not sure why I keep hearing that whine is acceptable? My father in law who used to build race cars back in the day said you shouldnt hear the whine from the rear end and the builder at the diff shop said the same thing.

Yeah but remember hes in Arizona where most shops like to half *** things...

You may want to try dealers... I know the two larger ones in Tucson, Jim Click and Holmes Tuttle, are used to doing aftermarket things and might quote it better...

Or try some large dealers in PHX.

That's what Anthem Motors here in Arizona wanted! 9@$95.
AMP Performance here in Arizona wanted $850 for parts + install. And the guy on the phone warned about gear whine, saying it's common, just how the car car and suspension are setup. Made me worry, as some have had no whine at all! Why oh why do Arizona shops suck so bad.
hah you think thats a rip off? when i wanted to get my catback and shifter installed, a local MUSTANG shop in town quoted me for 13 hours of labor and over $1200!! i told the guy that was ridiculous and instead i went to two separate shops for the exhaust and shifter and got them both installed for a total of like $200

holy crap all of you people are getting hosed. maybe AMP is hurting from their loss on PINKS

anyone paying over $500 to have gears put in their car is getting robbed
I completely agree...just paid $500 cash for FRPP 4.10's, Royal Purple diff fluid, install kit and labor. And thats in NY where EVERYTHING is more money!

In Phoenix you can call Performance Solutions Racing @ (602) 269-8955 and ask for Bill. They are a Mustang shop that is fair and stand behind the work they perform.

My FRPP 3.73 Gears I had installed are as quiet as stock. If you do not want gear whine stay away from Motive Gears. IMO

I've installed numerous sets of Motive Gears, although never in a GT, and have never had any kind of problems with them.

My shop used the Ford Racing gears. Also I was quoted by another shop here 1100 dollars. They said it wasn't the price of labor just the price of it being done right and the pain in the *** factor.

If you don't mind, what shop in Denver? I just got quoted $950 at a shop in Longmont for 3.73s.
