Default Just got my '05 gt. ???'s

So I bought the car I've been dreaming of. Amazing price. Look under the hood and it has the K&N CAI already installed. Dealer tells me that's standard... HUH??? I assume he's clueless. So, if it was intalled after the previous owner bought it, how will I know if they tuned it properly? I am absolutely STUPID when it comes to cars, so bear with me. Guns, I know... cars, nope... I dont have any computers to hook up to my car or anything fancy. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Jim

i would swap that intake with like a C&L intake and maybe get a new torque converter if not finish off the exhaust... get a tune from B ama chips... I am ordering mine tonight... so hopefullly it is good. I have only heard good things about B ama... very good things!!!

Congrats on the car DEVIL DOG, welcome to the brother hood. I can't really help you with your problem. I suggest getting a SCT XCAL2 tuner from Brenspeed with a tune for your intake.

Hope this helps Brother. Thank you so much for serving this FINE COUNTRY. I know we don't hear that enough!!!

I don't believe the K&N CAI requires a tune as it uses the same MAF housing.

This is not a stock option, however most if not all Ford dealerships do carry the K&N CAI and if you want it installed they will do it for you when you buy the car.

Now on to the good stuff get rid of that and pick up a JLT CAIwith a SCT Xcal 2 tuner you will be very happy.

Yeah, chuck that K&N and use the sale of it to offset the cost of a new CAI setup(I prefer the JLT setup). I'm sure you could get $150.00 for it, what do they retail at? Btw dealers and salespeople will say ANYTHING to sell you a car, you'd be surprised some of the **** I've come across while buying cars over the years, I just do the internet appointment thing now(after making sure the car I want is on their lot). Welcome to the Forums!

lol, when i was looking at cars a while back, we found a sexy 04 GT at Carmax and noticed it sounded really good. Very familiar sound. AmericanMuscle was there kept saying it sounds like flows. Pop the hood and right there on the radiator cover is the flowmaster sticker, lol. Looked under the car and there was an x pipe with high flow cats leading to the flows. Nice car, but the s197 looks better so this is the route we took.

Sweet. Thanks for all the advice guys. Now I gotta start selling some of my not-so-often used guns to fund my new addiction. Just what I need,.... another hobby.
