Boost question

Boost question
When I went to the 3.4 pulley, my boost would go 9 to 10 lbs. Now it seems to only swing to 8lbs. Is it the quality of the air being sucked in or maybe the new K&N filter I just put on restricting?

RE: Boost question
I have the same set up and typically see 8 psi under normal semi heavy foot driving. I don't make full boost (around 9.5psi on an autometer cobalt boost gauge) unless I'mm really screamin' around 6K rpms. This is pretty normal/typical.
Of course here in SC it's starting to get warmed and more humid and that also plays a roll in lower boost numbers. The s/c love that cooler air.

down here in Fla I was getting regularly 8.5 lbs of boost betwen 4-6k..now with warmer weather it is 7lbs avg....througout

RE: Boost question
you know they are talking about the supercharger pullies right??
If you have a supercharger...you can get the smaller pullies from whichever manufacturer supercharger you have...
They all make the smaller pullies to allow the supercharger to spin faster, thus creating more boost...

RE: Boost question
The smaller the pulley the more HP/TQ you will receive, also the harder/shorter the life of the SC. 1lb of boost equates to roughly 15HP gain. So on a 3.4 pulley (8-9 PSI) you will see about a120HP boost, provided you have a good tune of course,(IE properly Mapped AIR/Fule ratio, correct injector size to handle the fuel supply...etc.) One more thing is the intercooler temp, the lower the temp the less parasitic loss your S/C sees, the higher the temp the less affective it is, and you might only generate around 70-80HP on the same pulley. Anything under 150 degrees is like candy to our intakes. Here in AZ, I only get that in the morning or late at night in the summer months.
