In Maryland, they hook up to the computer and test emissions.

I have an offroad H and live in PA(Northumberland county) and we're not listed for a test, just a "visual". If my car were to fail when it goes in next month i'd flip for all the 4x4 trucks that drive around this area with just headers and get inspected hehe.

Hell, Mississippi is close to not requiring inspections at all. It's only $5, and inspectors don't check squat.

Yeah i live in delaware and we have to go through every 2 years unless your car is new you dont have to go. They tag my friends new 2008 mustang for five years. so hes clear untill 2013, If your car is i think 1995 and up you just have them plug in a OBD tool it scans the codes and your ok. I have shorties, with no cats bbk, and mac pro dumps. The only thing is i dont have tail pipes, so he was a little shocked, i told him they dump before the ax, he said theres no law in delaware saying your pipes have to come out to the side or back of the car.

i've got an o/r h and slp's and, u know, it's loud... it's redneck country 'round here and cops don't give a crap...for inspections i don't think you have to have one on a new car until three years after it's purchased in texas... so i got two more to go.

Fellow PA driver myself, and as of right now my county doesn't have emissions test, but areas with bigger citys do. I bought my car in harrisburg and it had the emissions sticker, but when i had it inspected the next year they just took it off. I did talk to someone that says they may do a visual inspection to see if you have cats, but i am not sure how true that is for my area. probly depends were you take it to get inspected.

Well, even though some area's may not "test" for emissions, it is still a federal law which can impose some hefty fines.. You are not "suppose" to modify the stock emissions system until after 80k miles.. So technically even installing after market cats is illegal based on federal law..

But F*** them if they can't take a joke :-)

Fortunately for me my county in california doesn't require recurring tests.

Here in Cali -- no cats & with no problems. It only takes about an hour to swap the mid pipe back to stock ... I'll just do that when emissions comes around[:-]
