yeah, the only cars on the street that you ever see able to hook that much power up are the fully caged fox bodies . . . and no one really wants that look. . . you get an S197 to hook like that with that kinda power. . . you're really doing something
honestly, I would like to have 500 wheel that hooked, rather than 800 wheel that didn't, but thats just me

well the LS7 is in the corvette which is heavy so i think 400rwhp (450 for sure)might be able to keep up with a Z06. 505HP and 460ish??? getting to the wheels. that would be an interesting race. whoops, guess we are gettin off topic
I dont know what im saying i guess ... just worried about those rich kids that get everything they want and would walk all over a s197 that was modifed ... just wondering if those internals would allow for some adjustment with boost or what not to where if at the track you get stumped ... just boost it a bit and possibly take it
i dont know lol <---- ramble again

It's the fact that the S197 GTs C/R is so high that makes for things exploding around the 450ish rwhp with any sort of decent boost. A forged short block is great insurance, but it needs to built with F.I. in mind(Terminators and GT500s run a 8.5:1 C/R compared with the relatively high 9.8:1 C/R on our GTs) and lowering the C/R will allow more boost to be added safely(pretty straight forward[8D]). You might as well buy a built short block from a reputable company like Livernois and have your local shop drop it in and then add the turbo IMO. Unless your shop has the latest engine building equipment and technology(plus Modular V-8 experience), I'd let a company with the years of building Mod V-8s handle my engine build-up. Although Livernois does sell the forged component kitsfor the DIYers out there. I'd think around the $4000 mark for a short block if having a local shop do all the wrenching(including parts). You could buy an assembled short block for that price..................
