Tinting of taillights. Illegal?

RE: Tinting of taillights. Illegal?
Personally I'd stay away from them. I was in the OC Cruise and was following at GT for awhile with tinted tail lights and at times in the bright sun it was hard to see the brake lights coming on. I ended up giving some extra room between our cars so as not to rear end him.

it's illegal in Florida, I've been pulled over in my 91 Gt a couple of times for headlamp and tail lamp covers, luckly never ticketed because I would just
pull them off in front of the officer and throw them in the back and they would let me off with a warning.

Thanks everyone,
I wasn't going for a very dark tint. Just a slight (maybe 30%) shading. Car is Windveil blue, so too dark would not be as interesting as on a black car.
