Default Those who have SLPs or have heard them in person.

Well, I'm about to purchase the SLP LM1 axle backs and I was just wondering if this is the loudest it gets. I love Raspy sound but I know a lot of people dont. Ive heard them on a 350ci motor (camaro ss) and love how they sound on the bigger cubic inch motor but I know that it wont sound the same on the 281...but with an O/R X would it be as nice sounding as on a 350? Also, ive watched different videos and some sound much louder than the stock mufflers and some not so much.

I love raspy dude, I'm going with a catted x and slp's as well. It's how these cars were supposed to sound.

SLPs were the first mod that I did and I haven't regretted it since!!! They're unbelievably loud at WOT, but are still tame at idle. I toyed with the idea of going with an off-road H-pipe but I've heard only bad, bad things about doing that. Like obnoxiously loud...Nascar-like. If I were you, I'd go with the cats first. But yes, SLPs ROCK!!!!

If you're gunna do an x pipe or something, just get a high flow catted one, so it still sounds nice, but MEAN AS ALL HELL!

I have the LM axle back and it sounds similar to the LM I had on my '00 TA. A friend of mine with a '99 TA w/ LM even noticed they sounded similar.

The SLP's are awsome on a stock mustang. If you do any other exhaust mods they sound like crap.

I don't know what the big fuss is about the SLP Loudmouths. I put a set on my car once when I had it up on the lift getting my lowering springs done (a guy at the shop was trying to sell them to me)

They had an underwater, gurgly. unnatural raspiness. I didn't like the sound at all. Personally I think the stock mufflers sounded much better, even though they are a lot quieter. But, to each his own.

I have to say, the loudmouths by SLP (straight piping) are LOUD! Dont get me wrong, they sound good, but I thought they were very very loud. My friend with an 06 red GT bought the dynatech supermaxx a few weeks after I had mine put on. He had just a cat back flowmaster on the car. After the lt headers, catted x, and slp loudmouths, the car was unbelievably loud... Driving behind him I can barely hear my own car... (maybe because I have magnaflow...). I dont know how they are for performance though..... ?
