Default Clutch

Hello all

Need information on what clutch to replace my junk stock one with. I want a very good one. Has any one else found that the stock clutch pushes very hard. What clutch should I go with? I think I want to keep my fly wheel should I have it turned???.

Thanks

MustangsUnlimited.
New flywheel and clutch at the same time.
Dont know about the leg effort needed but
it could not be that bad.

The clutch is hydraulic. Pedal effort should not be significant. Maybe the mechanism is binding or you have a bad clutch master cylinder?

I found the stock clutch very easy to drive - it just could not put up with the punishment. There are good aftermarket clutches that are very streetable - I've had the Spec Stage 2 in for over a year now (18k miles, with lots of race time) and its been great. Firmer than stock, engages better and from the mileage appears to be taking what I am throwing at it. Oh, and I havean lightweight flywheel as well...did not upgrade to the lightweight pressure plate though (might if I find one used).

I just got the Spec Stage 2 Clutch with the SPEC Aluminum flywheel. Been driving it since Wednesday and it is nice so far. The pedel effort is more than stock, however my stock pedel was not stiff as you described.
I went with this set up after my slave cylinder (throwout bearing) came apart inside the trans. See this tread for info -->

Ordered everything besides the slave cylinder (got from Ford) from AmericanMuscle.com
Fast shipping and tells you real time on the web how many they have instock.
