Default Best Torque Converter?

I know this is avery open topic, but in your opinions/experience, which is the best torque converter? I am looking into the TCI street fighter. How much is an after market torque converter supposed to shave off in the quarter mile?

and... how much do they normally run for? (street fighter) the only site I have looked at is the TCI website and they said 630 dollars. Can I get it anywhere else any cheaper? Or, can I get another torque converter that is better than stock but less than 630 dollars?

630 is good. Jegs charges $1k+ for the same thing. but i think the $630 price is if u provide your own TC.

high stalls are one of the best bang for buck mods for the auto. even in daily driving, it really makes a difference.

Talk to your installer/shop about what's right for you. Most guys I know run a 3500 stall multi disc with great results.

Would 3500 be a little high for a dd? If I'm thinking of going FI would it be better to wait on the converter?Seems like this is something that should be done last.....

Personally I would stay as far away from TCI as possible. I have only known one person who was happy with his and that was after sending it back to them a couple times for re-builds/re stalls. I would look into PI (Precision Industries). A good tq converter is going to run you some coin, but it is not a place you can or should cheap out on. IMO 3500 is perfectly fine in a dd, remember, newer cars have a lockup disc in the converter, so at cruise speeds it acts like a stocker.

wow, thanks for the recommendation to PI. I would've fallen astray to Jegs/Summitracing's ads. i'll no longer look there.
