Default Alternator Died :(

Can anyone tell me where I can get an alternator for a decent price? I called ford but they wanted $479 and I think that is a little much. Unfortunetly I'm not under warranty Thanks.

Rockauto.com has a motorcraft brand alternator for half that cost. You need to know if it's a 130 or 135 amp alternator (w/o w/appearance package)

i could be out of touch on this, but couldn't
you do an exchange at your local NAPA or
similar autoparts dealer....

i've done alternator exchanges and it cost about
$125 or so

I am on alternator number three. I have a bottle heater for my nitrous setup and I have to cycle it on and off or it drains the battery and for some reason the alternator keeps dying at that point. When mine went out no one had refurbs to swap out yet because they were too new. Hopefully they have some now. Good luck.

What is with all these alternator deaths lately? Are you all running crazy aftermarket stereo setups?

i have the stock shaker1000 audio system, the stock alternators are terrible, with this many problems on cars, why doesn't ford do something about it?

I don't even have the shaker system just the base stereo and the alternator can't handle the 30A the nitrouse heater draws. WEEEEAAAAAAAK!!!!!!

Mind if I ask, if you've got the stock stereo and alternator, why isn't it covered under warranty? Dealer just being difficult?

Ahh, yes.. I guess that's possible - I haven't put miles on a car like that since I was a teenager!
