Default Synthetic Oil or Not?

I have a new 2007 Mustang GT and would like to know what your thoughts are on sythetic oils vs standard oils. Also, what about the filters? I had my first oil changed at 5,000 miles and put in Motorcraft 5W20, a synthetic blend. Would I be better off putting in Mobile One or Royal Purple?

Thanks,

thier are a lot of opinions on the oils of choice. i used purple for a year, then i switched to mobil one full syn. i personally like the mobile one better. its a little cheaper and hold up fine. i would only recommend purple when regarding trans fluid or gear oil. other than that, its what you want to spend. i change my oil every 30 days, not 3k or 3 months. i beat on the car a lot

Been using Mobil [Full Synthetic] since 1975. I change every 10,000 even though lab tests say 12,000 and read if you keep topped off can go 30,000 with changing just the filter at 15,000. I have always used 10-30W. I think too I gain a little mpg and they say should have a little more giddy-up or engine response vs std motor oil. Use Mobil or Amsoil IMO

Anyone know where I can buy a used right side GT muffler?

i heard it doesnt hurt to use 10w30 unless the temps get really cold.

5w-20 is a lower viscosity so technically you can get better mileage and more power.

Mobil one is the best btw.

Another vote for Mobil 1 (5W20). Filters? You can't do much better than Motorcraft.

Synthetic without a doubt. Only problem is you cant buy just ANY bottle labeled as synthetic. Not all ARE synthetic. The only ones that are synthetic (Group IV oils) without a doubt are Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple and Mobil 1. There are other, lesser known brands out there however. Which one you use is up to you. All will have similiar effects. As for myself, Amsoil. Nothing else.
