Default Buzz Buzz Buzz goes the S197

Ooookay. I've already had a thread on the vibration at a certain RPM - got it narrowed down to a midpipe issue. Gonna look at it next time I have it on a lift.

Anyway, does anyone else have it where the shifter/trans kinda buzzes at lower rpms..?

I mean, if I grab the shifter, it kinda stops. But if I let go while accel, it will buzz. Maybe it's the shifter naturally vibrating, but then causing the plastic around it like in the center console to buzz?

Any ideas?

I wonder if it is the plastic makin the noise (and maybe yours just isn't old enough to have come lose yet) [&:]

Oh well, I'll see if I can isolate it.

I too have a shifter buzz. Mine seems to be coming from the leather shift boot itself.

Its definatly the boot. I have the same noise. It only happens when the stick is in one of the foward positions. (3rd and 5th). If you listen closely it sounds like a friction noise. Almost like the material is rubbing agaisnt itself when its folded up and crunched together. I had a buddy listen for it and he found it...and then I went ahead and grabbed the material around the shifted when the noise would start and it would stop. I tried treating the material with a leather conditioner to no avail. For one I dont even know if it's made of leather. I thought if I could soften the material it wouldnt squeek. Im almost certain its the material...
