Default Do I need a new tune with 4.10's

I might be getting 4.10 gears and wanted to know if hooking up my SCT and telling my car it has 4.10 gears is all I need to do. Because I read an article in one of the Mustang magazines on project MILF where they were saying you needed a new tune for the automatic transmission so you didn't burn clutches. The article really confuses me and makes me nervous, because I don't want to get new gears if it's going to be hard on the auto tranny shifts.

I don't think you'll need a new tune. But you should change this in your optional paramaters under axle ratio. Check out the SCT video help link under the announcements. I believe there is one that shows you exactly how to do what your asking about.
I've also heard though, that 3.73s are a better setup for an auto...

No new tune since you have the sct tuner. Just reload the same tune and change parameters when prompted. Isn't yours an auto? Might want to rethink the 4.10's. You don't want to be cruising on the higway at 3k rpms always making boost.

if the current tune has your auto shifting at
certain MPH's, then i can see why you would
want to reduce the MPH shift points after
installing 3.73's or 4.1's.

i don't have an auto, so i'm just guessing here
really

All I did was changeto 3.73in the user parameters.

Edit:
I havnt tried it yet I have my brenspeed tune loaded currently but when I ordered my tune from b ama he sent me 2 files, one for the stock gears and one for my 3.73's.

I remember that article. In their MILF project they used the Ford Racing PROCAL when installing their wipple. The PROCAL is basically a little piece of junk programmer and doesn't allow any adjustability such as gear ratio. On top of that Ford Racing couldn't provide them with an updated PROCAL for their wipple and 4:10 gears (!) Thats when they decided to switch to a SCT Xcal2 and got a custom tune.

But if you already have a SCT Xcal2 you're all set, just make the change in the options before downloading the tune.

i think all you have to do is recalibrate the speedometer with the SCT tuner

Wally, I think you'd be better off with 3.73's, JMO. But with the 4.10's you will have to change the shift points for sure. BTW.........Say hello to the Beaver for me..... LOL
