Default Whipple install has begun.......

I will have some pics up later. I started at about 10am and just got to the removing the intake manifold per the instructions. Actually the written instructions skip right over removing the intake manifold. I was shocked to see all the motor oil on my CMCV plates. I'll take a pic of it and post it later.

I should have the blower installed today and finish up the wiring and fuel pumps tomorrow. Something strange when removing the intake manifold was the bolt at the back that has a stud coming out of it came out with an oring on the end. None of the other manifold bolts had orings. Are the orings still down in there?

Well back to work, just stopped for lunch.

Did you see any orings on the intake manifold bolts? After pulling the two inside bolts off the manifold I found two more orings and they were broken. I'm assuming all the bolts have orings, but they are still down in the holes in the cylinder heads. Now i'm not sure if I need to go to the hardware store and get some orings and stick them back on the bolts or not.

I'll post a pic of the one good oring that is still on the stud.

Here's the oring. This is the rear drivers side bolt that holds down the intake manifold. The oring came out on the bolt just like you see it. The two bolts that are on the inside of the intake manifold wouldn't come out so i pulled it off with them in it. Upon pulling them out the orings came out broken, they were stuck in the holes with the bolts. WTF? I'm going to email whipple with these pics. I might go to the hardware store and buy some orings before I put these three bolts back on, but what about the other bolts? Hopefully the orings are still down inside there were they are supposed to stay I assume.

Here's how much oil is on my cmcv plates.

So you think these orings were inside the cmcv plates and not down in the cylinder head holes? I didn't think of that, but i'll go look at the intake manifold again.

OK, i'm stupid! I took another look at the threaded holes in the cylinder head and there's no way those orings came out of that hole. Now why did only three bolts have orings? I can tell you the holes in the intake and cmcv plates don't line up perfect on those holes.

When i did my CMCV install i dont think they had the orings either...just 1 or 2 might have but not the main bolts that you remove. That isnt that much oil actually, mine were blackened more than that.
