starting custom turbo kit
Hey guys,
New to V8 performance but not performance as I'm the sales manager for Perrin Performance(www.perrinperformance.com), we work with the Subaru's and Evo's all day long.
I am starting a custom turbo kit this week end and am just looking for real world drivability feed back from any one with one of the single turbo kits already on the market. I'm thinking a low boost GT4088R will be perfect but I know a GT3582R can put down 500+ on a high boost four cylinder and it will spool faster. I'm probably going to try both before I settle but I was wonderin if there was any drivability feedback here.
I'm targeting 475-500hp after tuning to the wheels on my 2007 GT 5sp.

The Turbonetics kits are pretty nice quality. They skimped a little on the actual turbo but everything else is top notch. And it is the same kit that several other places sell as their own ( including Hellion ). Comes standard with an 8lb spring. I personally would upgrade to an 11lb spring or better yet an electronic boost controller. But everything else right out of the box should do ya right.

What are you planning to do about intercooling?
Heard alot of poeple on here say tubo's are great but the air to air intercooler isnt as good for daily driving as a air to water. And all current kits use air to air. I was curious why no one doesnt buy the turbo and then use the intercooler setup from an 03 cobra or something?

Hi guys,
Just to clear things up I will be MAKING my own kit, we have ALL the parts in house. I am looking for drivability feed back on the different kits out there and what size turbo they are using.
As far as intercooling I will be using a large Front mount air to air intercooler as we have many cores and end tanks here to design the best one possible. For added in cylinder cooling I will be using our water/meth injection kit we designed with AquaMist.

I hear that the single turbo on our cars is no good for drivability. The TT setups are much better on our V8's. But I am not an owner of a turbo myself so can't give first hand knowledge.

The single turbos are fine as long as you don’t go crazy with the boost. At high boost, 18# or more, you start running into inlet temp problems with the single kits on a street driven setup.
