Default Internals

I recently added a KB 2.6L intercooled SC to my 06 manual GT. From what I read here I should be mildlyworried about the stock internals. I understand the why and thedifferences in material properties but not so much the what. Cansomeone please help me with thelow down on what I need to replace, where to get it (good brands)and about what it would cost to get it done etc?

Thanks in advance.

imo, if it's not broke, don't fix it.

unless you have $3000 burning a hole in your
wallet, i would let things be. now having said that,
is forging a bad idea? no.

forging kit: pistons, rods, crankshaft ~ $2000
labor = who knows, maybe $800 - $1000

btw, congrats on the new toy....now go sign
the *guestbook*

no, not you jerjan!

Hammeron - Where is this lounge you keep talking about?

+1 on the forged internals question. As you are thinking through your options you might think about doing a complete shortblock instead of just a kit and install. The advantage would be less downtime for your car at the cost of more bucks to have someone do all the machining and assembly in advance.

Lots of vendors out there. Google 'mustang 4.6L 3V shortblock'
