I am driving home yesterday from work. It a nice day in Chicago land and last week I installed my BBK CAI with brenspeed tune, so I having fun driving. I am the first one to making a left at a light and I take off very quickly, I’m going into second gear when my radar detector start going off. I make sure not to go any more then 5 over the limit, when I pass the cop sitting behind a build. I’m think fine, until the cop pulls out about 15 cars behind me. I make a right onto the next street (I need to make that right), and I take off. I thinking to myself, I should go into the subdivision and lose him before he can check up. I decide not too, and continue normal on my way home. I am at the next stop light when the cop get right behind me, and he turns on his light right after intersection. (Note: this is at lest 8 block from when I drove by him.) So I pull over and what look like a rookie cop ask me for my license and insurance. After he gives me back my insurance he asks me what exhaust I have on my car. Shocked, I tell him it stock. He then told me it wasn’t, because it was too loud and that why I pulled you over. I tell him if you look at the muffler you will see the ford symbol on it. He didn’t check but gave me a warning for my muffle and told me to have my exhaust looked at because it must have a leak. Then he asks me how I like the car and how he was looking at this at the ford dealership. How do cop tell if something is too loud? Do they take a class? I doubt the have a devise to tell how many db my car is. I think we wanted a closer look at the car.

Wow if he thinks your car is loud....haha. The first day I got to Cali from Texas I got a warning for my exhaust noise and I didn't even take it over 2K RPM's in front of the cop!

being it's just a 'warning' i would consider this a compliment.
my funny cop story: crossing an intersection at normal acceleration i pass 3 cops taking a coffee break by the side of the road in a business district. when i pass their 3 cars i trip 2 of their alarms. 1 cop smiles and the other 2 give me the 'i'm watching you' look. i just wave and keep on driving.

Your exhaust is stock? Stock exhaust doesn't have a ford emblem.

haha dude, thats so bad. whenever i see a cop (ive been pulled over a few times for stupid reasons), i upshift and hit the brakes subconsciously

Onederful, I didn't think I would mind if he pulls me over,told me my exhaust was loud thenand started talk about the car. But he took 15mins to fill out the paper work and during which time, I though he was writing me a ticket so I was mad

I wanted to install the Pypes Mid Muffler System but now I don't know if I should because I getting harassed by cops

if cops dont have a decible meter, their loud exhaust ticket will not stand up in court. if you do go to court and the judge asks the cop how loud the exhaust was and he says real loud w/out a meter saying how many decibles it was it dont mean jack crap. where i live it is common knowlegde where the rookies train, so i avoid that area like the plague.

I have gotten the 'Loud Exhaust' ticket and the 'Tint to dark' ticket. Both times I had a cop thats a friend sign my ticket and I think it was like $5 processing fee. Its a fix it ticket.

What really made me mad was that the cop that wrote me the exhaust ticket made me sign it and then told me the exhaust sounded good. [:@]
