bbk tb install and having problems

RE: bbk tb install and having problems
I would think the same principles apply gain wise.....FI should show the most gains, someone with just a CAI/tune or NA will shot slightly better throttle response but minimal gains.....if you have cai/tune, CMCV, full exhaust including headers maybe head and cam work, you should also get some decent gains.
I put it on with stock setup for a test, while i didn't feel and real HP gain, the throttle response was slightly better, not $400 better though. I then put the cai/tune back on, cant say it felt any different than before i had the TB. I am sure with my current setup and when I add the LTs that there will be gains but with all the mods I wouldn't be able to say how much. I got the TB and a spacer to fit the stock manifold for about 225, so that was quite a deal for me and I don't mind trying things out for people on the boards.
So when i say a TB spacer or TB is not the best mod for lightly modded people, i am speaking from experience.

RE: bbk tb install and having problems
I bought the same thing. I had nothing but problems with it. At first I installed it my car wouldnt even start. Then messing with the spring in the throttle body it started to work. I felt no difference in power, timing, throttle response or anyhting. Then when day my car just stalled I hooked up my diablo predator and it said throttle stuck open. I took the tb off and put factory back on and it works fine. Was not worth the money at all.

RE: bbk tb install and having problems
Had problems with mine, too. I did like how it drove while it worked, though. Throttle response was great, and I felt a gain at high rpms. I got quoted $160 for a GT500 TB at a Ford dealer with both sensors on it. You'd just have to figure out a way to get the air inlet hose to fit around it; or pay $150 for the adaptor plate (rip-off!).

RE: bbk tb install and having problems
I haven't had any issues with mine, but it does seem to hang on to revs a little bit longer after I left off the gas pedal. It sounds really cool opening and closing, but looking back, I would never have risked having these problems. At the time, my only other mod was a the BBK CAI, and only felt a bit of a gain.
