69,000 miles leaking front seal
Had the car in for oil change this week, and the mechanic calls me out to the bay, there is oil running down the front of the block and on to the pan. The oil appears to be from behind the harmonic balancer, and the mechanic tells me it may be the front seal. He said the cause may be a plugged PCV. I want to check the PCV, but don't know where it is (Iimagine it is on the valve cover.) I'm no mechanic but the PCV causing the front seal to leak sounds fishy to me. Oil level has always been in the safe range, but I just need to know what else can cause this to happen.
Has anyone else had this problem???
No engine mods exceptK&N drop in filter.

the first thing i'd do, is clean up the front of
the engine. in a couple of days, go back and look
for leaks
at that point we can figure out a plan of action

If the Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve isn't working it can cause a seal to leak due to pressure build up from combustion blowby.

I'm not sure the 4.6 v8 even has a PCV valve, I think it just has a couple PCV ventilation hoses. (I may be way off on this.) The 4.0 and 5.4 engines have the PCV valve screwed into the valve cover.
Good advice about cleaning the engine and then looking (use a flashlight) it works every time.
Well done getting all those miles! These cars are made to be driven.

I just happended to be flipping thru our filter book at work and noticed it did not list a PCV valve, nor have I seen one on the car. Just my 2 cents. But Im pretty sure we dont have one.

Yeah,I called around and even the Ford dealer's computer said " not servicable" so,I thinkI will bite the bullet and try to get it fxed under the extended warranty. Should I try to clean the PCV hoses if so with what? Just rolled up 70k btw, onceIget this sorted out,I guessI may do some mods. Its my DD so 50 mi to work each way adds up, but the V8 setting off the other cars' alarms is great therapy after a day at work
