ahh.. AIG.. one of their insureds rear ended me about 1 year ago (before i got the stang).. she was drunk, doing 45mph, didn't even hit her brakes, I had been at a dead stop for awhile (waiting to turn left).. they took 2 months to pay me out for my car which was quite obviously totalled, at the time my job relied on my car so I couldn't work, and they only paid for rental coverage for the 1 month (so 1 month out of work) they paid me hardly anything for my "pain & sufferering" (a lawyer friend said 1k was standard for my injuries, but they gave me $200) they also didn't pay me as much for my car as they should have.. 50k miles, 2000 grand am, recent brakes, tires, windshield, fixed my driver side window not rolling up/down, 50k tune up, car was in great condition, practically new except for the miles.. replacing it cost me nearly 2x as much for a car with same mileage (although i upgraded from the 4 cyl. to v6) i couldn't find anything anywhere near what i had for the same price... so was pretty screwed up.. oh well.. got my stang now and loving it.

funny thing happened about 2 months after i got the new v6 grand am.. i was at a red light, behind a bunch of cars, and got rear-ended again.. (this wasn't as bad, just had to hit the shop for 2500 in damage)... oh wait.. even funnier.. the day i bought my new mustang i stopped at my first stop light (driving it back from dealership, to work) and i got rear-ended, however i didn't get out to look because i thought it had to be my imagination, it was just really close, i thought... when i got home i looked and saw it was slightly scuffed, it buffed out but still really pissed me off... (ppl in Montana (or montucky) can't drive!!)

Or if you have relatives that are members (parents, spouse).
Do they have to rank? My dad... I don't know if he ranked but I'm sorry to say I <3 my insurance agent but paying $225 a month for my baby is a little steep.

Being a 19 year old male with a muscle car in California stinks. :-(

I've honestly been looking to see if I could get into USAA. Any chance you can message me with anything you need to check it?

They quoted me at the end of 04.
I thought that was the case. I think the reason they would not offer you the coverage is because they didn't even have the car in the system yet. There is a huge database that insurance companies use to verify vin numbers. Even though the vehicle definately exists, the database can't find it because it's a newer vehicle and that particular model doesn't come up. The user gets a message stating the vin is incorrect, it's actually correct but the new model hasn't been identified yet. Currently we have this problem with the 08 hondas, we only recently have been able to add them without overriding the computer system. I guarantee if you called now to get a quote on your car you would be able to get full coverage. But after the quote I got (875.00 per 6 months!) why would you want a quote from them? Hope that sheds some light on things for ya.
But the strange thing was they initially quoted a full coverage premiuma few weeks before I bought the Stang, and then refused to cover it for collision after I bought it. And that left me scrambling for a carrier because AIG was my current carrier at that time.

I've had Allstate, GEICO and for the past few years, Progressive. I switched to USAA when I bought my GT and their rates are more than 20% less than Progressive. The service is outstanding. I spent all of 10 minutes on the phone getting my coverage at the dealership. Great, just great for the $$.

Have high limits and $1K deductible and pay less than $100 per month. Thanks USAA.

I went with Liberty Mutual after the fiasco with AIG, and have no complaints. I'm currently paying $425 annually with $250/500K liability, $100K PD,$500/100 deductible for collision/comprehensive, and full tort.
Beingold(59) and married has its advantages.A clean driving record, residing in the suburbs, and our children living on their ownalso help.

I agree and I have State Farm and they know that I have 10,000 dollars in paint and body work and 8,000 in other engine mods (S/C)! Get a new provider and dont tell them about the S/C but any paint and body mods I would tell them and my rate per month is only 88 dollars. Except in the winter for 4-6 months is 76 dollars for the whole 6 month policy! (fire and theft). Ford usually doesn't call to see if you have insurance on the car if you have a lien with them. So I save some money when she is stored and I have yet to have a problem and if they did call I would tell them that I use the car for show (not a DD) and usually they let it slide! JMO J

i'm an insurance agent for a highly respected company. what you need to do for proper coverage if you add mods to make the car worth more if it becomes totalled than just the amount of value of that orginal car is add coverage for customization. this does raise your preium but it's not drastic and it's well worth it in the event of an accident.

Does one have toprovidespecific details regarding the customization?
