Default winter driving?

how well does the GT handle, drive in the winter? snow tires, lite on the gas, weight in the trunk?
Talking about snow on the ground, about a ft. on snow days and dry/black ice on the colder though no snow days..don't plan on flooring it or anything but need some pointers from experienced drivers.

i feel likei answer to every post about this just because im still surprised by it. i threw some michelin x-ices on mine and its a beast. no weight in th trunk or anything and the thing can blow through a good amount of snow. it goes well on ice, given you dont floor it. start in 2nd if needed really, then you wont spin as much and keep traction control on. for once its actually your friend. im a new yorker, but a lot of the time its in vermont and i end up digging it out from like a foot of snow and ice, hop in and go skiing. all you need are some good snow tires and a feather foot, and a respect for mother nature and youre set. have fun!

That was the only concern I had when I bought mine, too. Actually, for a rwd sports car, it does pretty well.

I'm on the stock all-seasons plus I put weight in the back. I was fine last winter in Detroit. But, I think that anything above 5" would be too dangerous to drive in with our cars.

Is it possible to do winter driving in our cars? Yes, to an extent.

I have to say that winter tires are pretty much a necessity, at least if you have the stock 18" bfg's. I bought a set of used 17" wheels and put on a set of hankook winter ipikes and they work quite well. The only problem is that I'm probably a little too aggressive for these tires. I don't forsee them lasting much more than a couple winters. I can't seem to keep my foot out of it....silly me.
