Some good points made in this thread but remember that all factory cars are 'broken in' before they hit the dealer lot. The motors individually are 'broken in' right at the factory. You can run synthetic from the day you drive it off the lot with no problems. When you are building a motor from scratch, YES, it is important to seat the rings especially and use a heavier oil for the first 1000 miles or so IMO but there are differences of opinion on this as well.

I like mobile 1 - but I use synthetic Torco 20w50 in my car cause I'm pretty hard on it. I also change my oil every 1000 miles but I race a lot.

Anythime. I like Mobil 1 as well and add Tufoil with every oil change.
