Default Minor Exhaust Problem

I had the Dynatech long tube headers put on the car during last May. They sound amazing. However, I was wondering if any other person with LT headers had this problem. Every time I go over a small bump or ridge in the road, I can hear the mufflers hitting the rear bumper. Any solutions? Anything i can coat just the cut outs in the bumper for the muffler tips with? (example like a rubber material) I am positive it is the muffler tip that is hitting the bumper. The reason I have let this problem keep going on is mainly because people who I have proposed this problem to have answered back with "its one of the down sides of after market parts". In other words, they tried to tell me that I really cant do much about this problem.

???

I dont understand why installing LTs would cause this...are your mufflers hanging lower than they originally were?

the LT's shouldnt affect the mufflers. i went over a ridge on someones driveway and scraped the frame on the underside, my LT's dont cause any clearance issues.
what kind of mufflers you got?

I'm not sure what your problem is, i wouldn't be surprised if it's not what you think. Anyway, apparently pypes makes some aftermarket brackets for the mufflers with stiffer bushings. that would keep your exhaust from moving up and down so much.

well, the sound is as if the muffler tip is hitting the rear bumper every time i hit like a small bump in the road. it doesnt happen over speed bumps, but when im going fast enough over a small bump (10-40 mph) it sounds though as if the muffler tips are literally tapping the rear bumper

Ah yes, this happened in my 06 GT after putting on FRPP Stingers. Very annoying. Unfortunately I never did figure out exactly how to solve this; my car ended up being replaced by Ford due to the infamous passenger-side water leak, and my new 08 (which has the same axle-backs on) does NOT do this[sm=lol.gif]

I did notice (or think I noticed) that the exhaust is a bit stiffer on the 08 than on the 06, so I am betting that Moosestang has the right idea; I would try to either buy those brackets or engineer some stiffer mounts and see if it helps.

Good luck.
