Default Help, Am I ruining my STANG?!?

So I went to a Valvoline place to change my oil and the guy recomended to me to use the VR1 20-50 blend. Its really thick and i'm not sure if its going to screw up my engine. It feels like i don't have the take off power I use to but it has more power at higher RPM's, this is a daily driver and not a track car. I'm just worried im going to hurt my engine. Any suggestions on if this would hurt my baby, or bad for it at least? Or is this the best oil for the GT?

20w50....we run 5w20 in our cars....go back, show him the owners manual, and have them do it again.....and please.....read the manual yourself!

Yes you are screwing up your car. Take it back to Valvoline today and get it replaced with the proper weight synthetic oil.

Needless to say this should be free. More than free actually if you consider what they did and the damage it may have caused.

Keep all the paperwork on the whole incident just in case.

+1 Don't deviate from what is in the manual. Get it swapped out ASAP because if you do damage and it's due to the oil you used then Ford probably will not cover anything.

that crap is for high performance euro engines, such as a BMW M3 motor. It is not for a American Car period...drain it out and put the proper weight in the car as listed in the manual...otherwise your going to do some serious damage

If he wants you to run the Racing oil in there, that's fine... But make sure its the regular 5W30 Racing Synthetic, and not the VR1.

20W50 is what you would use ONLY in high boost/racing applications.

Run the specific oil grade that is in the owners manual. Then you can't go wrong, I would never run any other grade.
