Im with Burnsy (the ahole ) jk Burnsy, you knowthere is much love...anyways, go with the CAI/tune package from Brenspeed or Bama...stay away from the K&N...go with JLT, C&L, Steeda or Granatelli.

How about a 125 shot of nitrous. You should run pretty well against him with that for well under a $1000.[8D]

Yes, I would go with a good CAI/Tune combo from Brenspeed. Don't think it will get you to 300+rwhp but not too far away. I would not get a dyno tune until you do some larger upgrades such as a turbo or supercharger. The tunes from places like Brenspeed are very good and a dyno tune may net you maybe 3-5hp more. Good luck!

someday man, someday! Im going to have to my a-holebrother has an 05 gto with like 387 rwhp, god I hate that car looks like a f&*%'n 98camaro he thinks its the baddest thing ever. nothing I want more than to shut his a@# up.
SLice, is that why you ask; to race your brother? There will always be stronger and faster cars. His stock GTO will kick your butt even if you get all the bolt ons. His engine is much larger and if he does a few mods then you won't catch him again. But, and this is the big but, the new GTOs, I put them in the same category as the new Chargers. What the heck were the designers thinking? At the end of the day, people speak with their wallets and Pontiac stopped making the "new GTO" and there are still some on dealer lots and the last model year was 2006 ; what does that tell you? Your mustang looks way better. So let him kill you on the 1/4 mile; big deal.

If you want to take him, find an old fox body, rip out as much interior as possible, slap in a stroker or 302 (you'll find them used on Ebay) and give it a big old shot of laughing gas and you'll kick his butt.

Wait a minute here.. In one sentence you're talking about how he should take comfort in the fact that the Mustang looks better and the GTO and charger are ugly, and then in the next sentence you tell him to go find an old fox?

Now, this IS a Mustang forum, and I might get blashphemy called on me, but I was NEVER a fan of the fox bodies. Hell yes they were fast, but they reminded me of a RWD Escort. Not what I'd consider to be a good looking car.. [:'(]

Im with Burnsy (the ahole ) jk Burnsy, you knowthere is much love...anyways, go with the CAI/tune package from Brenspeed or Bama...stay away from the K&N...go with JLT, C&L, Steeda or Granatelli.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, there is NOTHING wrong with the K&N FFS![:@] The K&N does not require a tune and the ones that do give you like 1 or 2 HP more, not a big deal. Getting the K&N will save you a lot of money b/c you don't have to then buy a tuner and tunes (which is expensive). Also running a tune will void your warranty, so keep that in mind. The only time I'd have a tune is either 1) my car goes out of warranty or 2) I get a saleen s/c installed by an authorized dealer where in that case saleen backs up my warranty.

BTW, if you're wishing you have the manual now, that desire is only going to grow. It has been for me. At first I wanted the auto, then after a few months I changed my mind. Now as time goes on, I want the manual more and more. I'm going to look into a trade in once the 08 models have good deals running when the 09s come out later this year. I know I'm going to take a hit, but I still don't want the auto anymore. I don't drag race and I find myself manually shifting my auto a lot anyway. I love my car but I don't like autos.

I believe I was clear. let his brother and his butt ugly GTO kick the butt of his S197. The new stang just looks better. 2nd, he has an agenda of some sibling rivalry. Then go build yourself a beater, brother butt kicker. Since this is a Mustang Forum, and a fox body is a Mustang, and can be had cheap, then why not use that platform if it's really that important to him to beat his brother. Who knows, if he builds the car, maybe he'll discover the drag strip and satisfy his desire to race where it belongs and keep the rest of us a little more safe by having one less street racer.
