gt500 fuel pump install problem
Well i got it all installed and did a test drive today. Well it ran fine but a new issue came up. My gas gauge is not working properly. So my question is which wires in the back are the ones that tell the gauge how much fuel is in the tank. Second question is how do i test at the pump if it is a wiring issue or a pump issue?
thanks

RE: gt500 fuel pump install problem
i have seen two things so far...on some start ups the needle doesnt move...on others it will shoot up to right above half tank then eventually just drop to empty.

RE: gt500 fuel pump install problem
I had the same issue after installing my GT500 pumps. For me it was the sending wires. Remember the 2 wires you had to remove from the factory harness and insert into the harness supplied with the GT500 pumps? One or both of them may not have fully seated. I had to dissassemble the plug that I inserted them into and remove the blue cover inside of the plug to get them to fully seat. After that, no more issues. Also, make sure you used the blue/yellow and green/violet wires from the stock harness, and that you did not install them backwards. The blue/yellow wire from the stock harness should lead into the black wire in the GT500 harness, and the green/violet wire from the stock harness should lead into the red wire in the GT500 harness. Hope this helps. -Nine

RE: gt500 fuel pump install problem
ok...i might have fixed it....i am going to post some of my findings in case someone else has this issue down the line...
1. reading from the gauge arm(the thing that goes up and down to tell you how much gas you have) is 16ohms(all the way down...no gas) to 170ohm(lever all the way up...full tank of gas)
2. on the plug on the fump pump there is 6 prongs...two rows of 3...the middle two are the direct wires too the level lever
3. in the inside it is the pink and yellow wires which control the needle on the dash.
